In our last 2 blogs we’ve shared that our weight loss program strongly advocates that people on a weight loss journey really focus on this: “Think T.E.A.M.”
We shared that “T stands for Targets” and that any successful TEAM must be crystal clear on what they are aiming for. An unclear or unrealistic weight loss goal is often the exact reason for failure.
Then we discussed that the “E” in TEAM stands for EXECUTION: the aspect of following up and following through with the “DOING” of what is required to HIT that meaningful target … to lose weight and create a focused lifestyle change. Next comes the “A” in TEAM ….
William Clement Stone once said “There is little difference between people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it’s positive or negative”.
The statement may sound a bit cliché. But we agree! The “A” in TEAM is ATTITUDE and it really IS THE DIFFERENCE MAKER!
Having had the opportunity to assist many, many folks through the weight loss process, we’ve had the opportunity to work with and observe the top performers … the “BIG LOSERS” if you will. What we mean by that term is those people who have come in, set a target, followed the program, reached their big goals AND changed their lifestyle so they kept the weight off.
If there is “A” common thread among these people it is this: they have a powerful and positive ATTITUDE! Whether you like it or not, believe it or not, accept it or not … attitude IS a factor that WILL impact your weight loss, your health and your life.
The fact that attitude WILL affect your weight loss success (and life!) is like gravity effecting your fall. You don’t have to believe in gravity, but you will still be pulled to the ground with a thud if you step off a roof-top! The great thing is this: We, literally, get to CHOOSE our attitude!
Abe Lincoln said: “A person will be just as happy as they make up their MIND to be.” You could substitute other words for “happy” – like successful, fulfilled, at peace, balanced. You get to choose! You get to make up your mind!
The point is this: choose your thoughts. It does matter! That weight didn’t come on overnight. It won’t go away overnight either. It will be a process … likely with ups and downs. Be patient with your body! Be confident that when you DO the right things with consistency you WILL be moving the right way. Be positive. Be grateful. Be optimistic about your direction. Don’t wallow in the past.
